Project: Slouchy Weekend Sweater
Pattern Source: The Little Sublime Hand knit Book
Yarn: Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK in color 15
Yardage: 4 Balls (about 508 yards)
Started: April 3, 2007
Finished: April 8, 2007
Yarn Source: Crazy for Ewe in Leonardtown, MD
Needles: 4 mm (US 6)
Gauge: 5.5 stitches to the inch in stst
Modifications: I didn't modify anything really. I selected the version with larger squares. I think it looks a little more interesting than the smaller square sweater.
This sweater is a gift for a co-worker and his wife, whose son was born in February 2007. As always, I knit the 6 to 12 month size to allow for growth and delays in gift giving. I never ever knit a newborn-size sweater, as it has been my experience that the sweater will fit for about 20 minutes one afternoon before it is outgrown.
This is the first item I've knit out of the new Sublime yarn collection. I saw the yarn last fall at Ally Pally, but didn't get any. The yarn has recently become available in the U.S. and I really liked it. The Extra Fine Merino DK is sort of spongy and very soft. It really reminds me of the Jaeger Extra Fine Merino line and Aurora 8. It was a little bit splitty, but it took just a little getting used to.
My projects in progress continue. Mio's Scarf looks exactly the same, just longer. I hope to finish it this weekend, so I can move on to something more exciting. I promise to post about the Mademoiselle Jacket and the surprise project tomorrow.
In lieu of my projects in progress, here's Sparky's latest (Courtney this one's for you!)
He's presently making his sock puppet shark an identical twin.
Rowan looks at all the knitting going on and thinks "damn, that makes me tired!"

Oh my gosh, look at how much Rowan has grown!! He's so adorable!!
The baby sweater is terrific, too. I really like the color. I also have enjoyed knitting with the Sublime line. I definitely think that I'll use it again.
